Well it turns out, Rainbow enjoyed writing the excerpts from Gemma’s fanfic in Fangirl so much, that she decided to tell Simon and Baz’s full story in their own book. And what’s this, the lead characters are called Simon and Baz? This is a bit of a strange coincidence. Well it doesn’t take a genius to realise that Rainbow’s latest book – Carry On – has a somewhat familiar name. At the school Simon is involved in a number of magical adventures as well as contending with his nemesis Baz. Gemma’s fanfic – Carry On, Simon –followed brave but naive Simon Snow who attends a magical school with his best friend Penelope and girlfriend Agatha. In her 2013 bestseller – Fangirl – her readers of course adored Cath and her story, but it was the excerpts from Gemma’s fan-fiction that really had some readers excited. Acclaimed young adult author Rainbow Rowell certainly knows what her fans want.
